Citizens from Nagpur rural areas, on Sunday, spontaneously responded to ‘Janata Curfew’, a call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help contain the novel coronavirus pandemic. Roads and lanes in towns and villages wore a deserted look as people preferred to remain indoors. All the shops, bus stands, temples and markets were closed, except for medical shops. RAMTEK: Whole Ramtek tehsil of Nagpur district wore a deserted look on Sunday with citizens following ‘Janata Curfew’ voluntarily in response to appeal made by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, to avoid spread of COVID-19. The citizens remained indoors from 7 am to 9 pm.

People had alredy made arrangements for keeping essential commodities in their homes. Therefore, they need not go out of the residences. The Hitavada Correspondent took a round of the town of various wards, covered government hospital, Gawalan nullah, Rakhi lake and Jain Mandir and found the citizens obeying the order. All medical shops and essential commodities shops remain closed on Sunday that caused inconvenience to some persons for getting medicines and essential materials. To make ‘Janata Curfew’ successful, Jogendra Katyare, Sub-Divisional Officer, Balasaheb Maske, Tehsildar, and Dilip Thakur, Police Station Officer, moved in the town in the morning appealing people not to come out and help contain COVID-19. Dr Prakash Ujgire, Medical Superintendent, and Swarup Kharge, Chief Officer of Municipal Council were not in their offices. Similarly, citizens from Nagardhan, Kachurwahi, Bhandarbodi, Mahadula, Musrewadi, Hiwra Bazaar, Deolapar, Manegaon-Tek, Paoni, Mansar and Kandri rural areas also wore a deserted look.
KATOL: Taking serious consequences due to coronavirus pandemic, residents from Katol tehsil supported ‘Janata Curfew’ by remaining indoors on Sunday. All the roads and lanes in the tehsil wore a deserted look while police also made good banbobust all over the tehsil. Police, Revenue Departments and Municipal Council had made a planning for Sunday’s curfew. Anil Deshmukh, Minister for Home representating Katol constituency, took review of the situation. The officers and workers extended active cooperation. Citizens started following rurals, dos and don’ts to help stop spreading of coronavirus, following awareness created by media.
The labourers and passengers had to suffer due to closure of shops. Citizens remained indoors for the day. Ashok Garate, Chief Officer, informed that the Municipal Council administration have already taken precautionary measures, including spraying in various wards. Some organisations distributed masks and provided sanitisers. Some of the persons preferred to pass the day at the farm hourses situated nearby jungle. Moreover, the Health department is examining persons coming from other towns/citizens after a long time. KALMESHWAR: The citizens from Kalmeshwar town and rural areas responded actively to the appeal made by the Prime Minister and observed ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday to help contain coronavirus pandemic. People from Kalmeshwar, Mohpa, Ubali, Telgaon, Telkamptee, Kohli, Gondkhairi, Samundri, Tishti and other villages extended full cooperation. The busy roads in Kalmeshwar today wore a deserted look as majority of the people preferred to remain indoors. The businessmen and traders downed shutters of their shops.
There is a good number of morning walkers at Talyachi Paal and taking snacks and tea at kiosks but there was nobody on Sunday. During a tour of Kalmeshwar, this Correspondent found that Dr Amarish Mohabbe, Medical Superintendent in Rural Hospital was absent. The premises of hospital was found with garbage, dirt and stink, causing a cause for health hazards. Not a single vehicle was found on Kalmeshwar-Katol-Saoner road. Except for medical shops, other shops were closed in Kalmeshwar. PARSEONI: Citizens from Parseoni and rural areas of the tehsil observed the curfew by responding actively in the fight against Corona.
The citizens remained in homes and passed time with family members that resulted in no vehicle on the roads or lanes. Varunkumar Sahare, Tehsildar, Pradeep Bamnote, Block Development Officer, Archana Vanjari, Chief Officer, and Vilas Chauhan, Police Station Officer, held a meeting in panchayat samiti hall on Friday and created awareness among the people about avoiding infection. The bus stand, shops, markets and temples remained closed. Some medical shops were open while doctor, nurse and staff were present in rural hospital. Police Department deployed cops to deal with the situation. Archana Vanjari and Pratibha Sanjay Kumbhalkar, Chairperson of Parseoni Nagar Panchayat to taken due care for success of ‘Janata Curfew’. Staff of panchayat covered various localities to appeal people to remain indoors. Dr Gajanan Dhurve, Medical Officer, kept the premises clean and was ready to serve patients.
