BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan takes oath as new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal on Monday.

After getting elected as BJP MLAs squad leader, Shivraj Singh Chouhan took oath as new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in Raj Bhawan at 9 pm on Monday. Governor Lalji Tandon administrated the oath of office and secrecy to him in a simple programme. This is for the fourth time that Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the oath of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath was also present in the ceremony. On this occasion, BJP leaders including ex-Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava, BJP State President V D Sharma were present. The oath ceremony was kept simple in the wake of coronavirus threat. In his short speech after taking oath as CM, Shivraj Singh Chouhan told that coronavirus has knocked the doors of Madhya Pradesh and all will fight in a united manner against the disease. He also praised ‘Janata Curfew’ imposed to break the chain of coronavirus and urged everyone to take precautions and take care of elderly people. Earlier in the evening, BJP MLA squad meeting was held at BJP office to elect Shivraj Singh Chouhan as MLA squad leader.
All BJP MLAs including Gopal Bhargava, Bhupendra Singh, ex-Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma, Rampal Singh, BJP State President V D Sharma were present. It was Gopal Bhargava who propose name of Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the CM’s post. All BJP MLAs unanimously elected Shivraj Singh Chouhan as their leader. After becoming CM, now Shivraj Singh Chouhan is facing a daunting task of preventing coronavirus and to end its menace in Madhya Pradesh. Notably, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bounced back to power after collapse of Kamal Nath government as it failed to prove its majority.
PM congratulates CM Chouhan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his twitter handle to congratulate Shivraj Singh Chouhan on becoming new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. In his message, he told that Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an able and experienced administrator who is extremely passionate about Madhya Pradesh’s development.
