Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister of district and Energy Minister of Maharashtra, took stock of the situation during lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, in Ramtek block on Monday. He also distributed foodgrains kits to the needy persons. Dr Raut chaired a meeting in Tehsil Office hall in Ramtek, and took stock of the implementation of measures taken by the Government to tackle the impact on livelihood of people. Sunil Kedar, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister; Krupal Tumane, Member of Parliament; Adv Ashish Jaiswal, MLA; Rashmi Barve, President of Zilla Parishad; Shrikant Phadke, Additional Collector; Rajendra Mulak, President of Nagpur District Rural Congress Committee; Uday Singh alias Gajju Yadav; Kala Thakre, Chairperson of Ramtek Panchayat Samiti; Meena Kawale, Chairperson of Parseoni Panchayat Samiti, attended the meeting. Jogendra Katyare, Sub-Divisional Officer of Ramtek, provided an overview of the efforts being taken by the Government machinery to tackle the situation.
 
He said that seven shelter-homes were created in Ramtek sub-division that comprised Ramtek and Parseoni tehsils. In all, 266 persons benefited from these shelter-homes. The area has many brick kilns. After the administration’s appeal, the workers at these brick kilns decided to stay where they were instead of migrating elsewhere. With the help of social organisations, essential goods were provided to these workers, said Katyare. Katyare also informed the Guardian Minister about foodgrains distribution to needy persons through fair price (ration) shops. Dr Raut assured that there would not be any shortage of essential commodities and foodgrains in Ramtek sub-division.
 
He asked the officials concerned to compile a list of persons who did not have ration card. Also, at ration shops, a suggestion box should be placed wherein the needy persons lacking ration cards can provide their details, he added. A COVID Care Centre has been created at Ramtek. Additional arrangements will be made at Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, colleges, and Navodaya Vidyalaya at Parseoni, Katyare said. Adv Jaiswal suggested that the ration for the month of April should be distributed to the beneficiaries in this month only.
 
The mid-day meals scheme foodgrains should be distributed at the earliest, he demanded. Further, he asked the administration to ensure that eligible beneficiaries did not remain deprived of foodgrains. Later on, Dr Raut, Kedar, Tumane, Adv Jaiswal distributed foodgrains kits to beneficiaries in Ambedkar Ward in Ramtek. Each kit had 10 kg wheat, 10 kg rice, one kg each of sugar, Tur dal, Chana dal, and soyabean oil, and 250 gms of tea-powder. balasaheb Maske, Tehsildar of Ramtek; Varun Sahare, Tehsildar of Parseoni; Swaroop Kharge, Chief Officer of Ramtek Municipal Council; Archana Banjari, Chief Officer of Parseoni; Supply Inspectors of both the tehsils, inspectors, Zilla Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti members etc were present on the occasion.
