MTDC postpones 70 per cent bookings for April and May

MAHARASHTRA Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) had received about 70 per cent of bookings. However, due to the pandemic of coronavirus, majority of the bookings are either postponed or cancelled. “Those who have postponed their traveling plan, new dates will be made available to them,” said Dinesh Kamble, Regional Tourism Head, MTDC in a press release. Kamble further said that those who wish to cancel their traveling plans will be given 100 per cent return of their booking amount.
 
“Majority of the people are extending their traveling plans and new dates are being made available to them,” he said. People are homesick due to lockdown after coronavirus outbreak and as soon as the lockdown ends, they can take pleasure of traveling for which MTDC is fully geared up. MTDC is always taking efforts to develop tourism through Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage. Senitisation of all rooms of resorts is going on war footing. Tourist are visiting places around the year but bookings are more during April and May months. Forts, jungle safari, scenic beauty spots and ghats are the most preferred destinations by tourists. But due to the lockdown, most of the tourists have cancelled their travel plan. Tourism may grow few days after lockdown is over.
 
“People are getting tiresome sitting home for about 45 days. MTDC is doing renovation of its resorts. Even it has taken care that tourist must feel the pleasure of living in the nature’s arms with variety of entertainments including jungle safari, adventure sports, site seeing etc. At present, MTDC has facility in Tadoba with 33 rooms, in Bodalkasa 24 rooms, Chikhaldara 10 rooms, Nagpur 22 rooms, Gaganbawada 13 rooms, Ambole 18 rooms, Mahabaleshwar 120 rooms, Matheran 41 rooms, Bhimashankar 12 rooms, Pansheet 35 rooms, Malshez 34 rooms, Karla 75 rooms. Apart from this Konkan, Sindhudurg, Raigad, Tarkarle, Ganpati Pule, Aurangbad, Verul, Ajanta etc., areas also have ample rooms. Even there are about 2,000 rest houses throughout the State having 5 rooms each, informs a press release.
