Co-operate with Govt during COVID-19 pandemic: Dr Shingne to traders

Maharashtra Minister for Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Dr Rajendra Shingane has directed the members of different associations of traders, manufacturers and distributors of Food and Drugs to implement directives and instructions of Government and Police Administration during the COVID 19 pandemic.
 
Dr Shingane has appealed, “All manufacturing units and distribution joints should co-operate with the Government administration to avoid black-marketing, overcharging and shortage of food and medicines. The traders should take care of common people and should provide the daily need items to the residents in nearby areas.”
 
Dr Shingane directed the manufacturers and traders to follow social distancing while dealing with common people and provide the food items and medicines for the prescribed prices. He also advised officers of Food and Drugs Administration to resolve the problems of food and drugs traders with priority. Dr Shingane has conducted a meeting of members of associations of manufacturing of food, medicines, masks, sanitizers along with senior officials of FDA. The members of food manufacturers association, drugs manufacturers association, chemists and druggists association, wholesale merchants association, Dal mills association, retail grocery shops association, bakery and sweets manufacturers association and distributors were attended the meeting.
 
FDA Joint Commissioner (Food) C B pawar; Joint Commissioner (Drugs) P N Shende; Assistant Commissioner (Food) A P Deshpande, Assistant Commissioner (Drugs) Dr P M Ballal along with Mrs Vyawhare of Haldiram; Vikram Diwadkar of Ajit Bakery; Sharma of Dal Mills Association; Prabhakar Deshmukh of Retail Grocers association; Rajendra Kawadkar and Hetal Thakkar, President and Secretary respectively of Nagpur District Chemists and Druggists Association (NDCDA), Vice President Virbhan Kewalramani, Joint Secretary, Dhananjay Joshi; VDMA Nagpur President Subodh Deulgaonkar and others were also present in the meeting.
 
The issues and problems discussed during the meeting include:
  • Only 30 to 40 percent production in Manufacturing Units due to shortage of workers.
  •  Increased cost of transportation as raw material is coming from other states and it affects production.
  •  Issue of manufacturing of sanitizers in drugs manufacturing units in city.
  •  Shortage of raw material, packaging material and prices.
  • Availability of Masks, rates and quality of the same.
  • Substandard masks, black-marketing and issues of overcharging of masks and sanitizers.
