SAKKARDARA Police booked Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporator Bunty alias Jitendra Kukde and five of his accomplices for allegedly rioting and damaging public property at Nehru Nagar Zonal Office of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Monday night. Around 10.30 pm, Kukde along with five of his accomplices allegedly stormed into the Nehru Nagar Zonal office of the corporation. Kukde, who is the former Chairman of NMC’s Transport Committee, asked Security Guard Sunil Pamaji Wasnik (58) about fogging machine. Wasnik tried to contact the driver of the vehicle mounted with fogging machine on latter’s cellphone. As the driver did not pick up the phone call, Kukde lost his temper.
He and his accomplices allegedly created ruckus in the premises. Kukde and others broke the door and a table with a cement block and sticks. They also damaged the wheel cap of the Deputy Mayor’s car (MH-31/DZ-0528) and threatened Wasnik of dire consequences. Following Wasnik’s complaint, police registered an offence under Section 143 (Punishment for unlawful assembly), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC, read with Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, against Kukde and five others.
