City’s Rahul Sarda named on ICAI panel of Laws & Economic Advisory

In a moment of pride for the city, Advocate Rahul Sarda hailing from Nagpur has been nominated as a member of Committee on Economic, Commercial Laws and Economic Advisory of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the year 2020-21. The WIRC is the largest regional council amongst the five regional councils of ICAI, with a membership of approximately 1,16,000 CAs. It is spread across the network of 35 branches in the three states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa and the Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra &Nagar Haveli.
 
The Committee is a non-standing committee set up with a view to conduct study into the economic affairs of the country/states and suggest measures for boosting the economy. It also conducts study into various economic and commercial laws, rules/ regulations/ notifications and makes representations to the Government. Sarda who practiseslaw in Mumbai is also a Chartered Accountant.
 
He completed Chartered Accountancy from Nagpur and was awarded the Narayan Demble Award in 2010by the Nagpur Branch of ICAI. Reacting to being the only practicing Advocate on the Committee, Sarda expressed hope that in a Committee of Chartered Accountants, his experience in Courts will bring a new dimension to the Committee's work. ICAI is a statutory body established by the Parliament and functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
