Irrfan Khan and Alok Chatterjee became friends while receiving education from NSD in 1987. Chaterjee added, “Energetic people like Irrfan never surrender. That’s why despite undergoing a major surgery and treatment he worked in Angrezi Medium.”
Indian Cinema suffered a major loss with Irrfan Khan’s death on Wednesday. Irrfan Khan comes into the legion of actors who are identified by their talent and content oriented films. Starting his journey from theatre the actor built his own identity in the film industry. Remembering Irrfan Khan, his friend and Director of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama, Alok Chatterjee says, “He was a realistic actor who used to work with full dedication, reflecting his never give up attitude. Three days ago, his mother died in Jaipur, very next day, he was admitted to hospital in Mumbai. He was struggling with the disease from last three years and many of his friends of film industry took care of him during his treatment in London.” Irrfan Khan and Alok Chatterjee became friends while receiving education from National School of Drama (NSD) in 1987. Alok Chaterjee added, “Energetic people like Irrfan never surrender till end. That’s why despite undergoing major surgery and treatment he worked in the film Angrezi Medium.” Hailing from Bhopal, actor and senior artist, Balendra Singh worked with Irrfan Khan in film ‘Piku’. He says, “We worked for more than two months together.
I could never resist making friendship with him because of his impactful persona and helpful nature.” Recalling one of Irrfan’s life incidents, Balendra Singh says, “When he found about the illness two years ago, he himself returned the signing amount of all his future projects to the directors and producers. Even though he was not obliged to do so. During the shooting of film Piku, I always found him busy with his character, scripts and props.” Senior theatre artist K G Trivedi, says, “Despite suffering from such a lethal ailment, Irrfan lived upto his commitments and did acting in Angrezi Medium,”.
