Over 1,000 Indian Red Cross Society members helping 18,000 needy

Over 1,000 volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society have helped around 18,000 people, hit by the nationwide coronavirus outbreak in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, in the state. On the instruction of Governor Anusuiya Uikey, the volunteers are imparting their voluntary services to provide help to the needy people, affected by the lockdown. The Governor praised the works of the volunteers of the Indian Red Cross Society and she motivated them.
 
The volunteers are working under the direction of Indian Red Cross Society Chhattisgarh Chairman Sonmoni Borah. In Dhamtari district, 456 volunteers distributed masks, sanitizers and hand-wash among 12,000 people. The Indian Red Cross Society in coordination with Dhamtari district administration has distributed food among the needy people. The migrant labourers from other states, who are stuck during the lockdown, are being provided food by the Indian Red Cross Society in Kanker, Surajpur and other districts of the state.
 
The Red Cross Society distributed mask and sanitizers among 300 people in Mahasamund district, 1,400 people in Rajnandgaon district. 10,000 masks from Jagdalpur Central Jail and 15,000 masks of cloth from Livelihood Mission were procured for distribution. The volunteers of the Red Cross Society Gariyaband in association with Health Department, Social Welfare Department and Police Department have distributed masks and sanitisers among 3,250 people. The Red Cross Society Bilaspur has contributed Rs 5 lakh for disaster management. The people are being made aware by the volunteers to maintain social distancing in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
