SECR readies over 200 quarantine beds for coronavirus patients

South East Central Railway (SECR) Raipur Railway Division has been assigned to manufacture over 200 beds in Wagon Repair Shop, to be used by medical staff in isolation and Quarantine wards developed by Railways at various places for Coronavirus infected patient’s treatment. As per information received from Pradeep Kamle, Chief Work Shop Manager of Wagon Repair Shop, all the field staffs and officials have been directed to take necessary steps to prevent outbreak of Coronavirus.
 
Over 200 quarantine beds would be utilised by Railway in Railway Protection Force Barrack and Engineering Colony Kharoon. Bhilai Marshalling Yard (BMY) Bhilai and Durg railway staff have also started preparation for manufacturing of similar beds for hospital use. Kamle further informed that a special gang with 50 staff have been prepared for manufacturing of hospital beds keeping in mind social distancing and precautions will be taken during preparation of the beds in workshops.
 
All necessary equipment and materials are supplied by General Store Depot. So far 30 beds have been manufactured and supplied to Railway Hospital Raipur. Materials for manufacturing of 20 more beds are available with the workshop. Apart from this Raipur WRS staffs have been assigned to manufacture 50 more beds. Under the guidance of Archin Banerjee, Satyendra Kumar, Arvind Meena and Debbrat Majumdar team of RP Singh and Shrinivas completed the task assigned to them. Assistant Workshop Personnel Officer, Raghvendra Singh and Assistant Finance Officer, Sushil Soni made remarkable efforts to pay salary of staff working in Wagon repair shop during the total lock down period.
