Thousands of members of Gayatri Pariwar and devotees of Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya conducted ‘Deep Yadnya’ in their respective houses in city at 9.09 pm on Sunday. Responding to the call by Dr Pranav Pandya, the present head of All World Gayatri Pariwar, about 15 crore devotees across India and abroad at more than 5,500 centres spread in the country, performed the Deep Yadnya procedure and recited the health mantra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed the citizens to light a lamp at 9.09 pm on April 5 to show solidarity and strength to fight against coronavirus.

He then called upon Dr Pranav Pandya and discussed the same through video conferencing. Dr Pranav Pandya then issued a video message to all centres. Nagpur has a zone Gayatri Centre and the Gayatri Shaktipeeth at Jagnade chowk is the headquarter of the south central zone. “Nagpur centre has received the message from Haridwar and circulated to all members residing in city and in other towns. All members were directed to perform procedure of Deep Yadnya in their houses on April 5 at 9.09 with special mantra to relieve the entire world from the pandemic of corona.

The appeal had received a wonderful response and thousands of members performed the same in their houses,” said Vijay Singh Solanki, manager of Gayatri Shaktipeeth. Kamlesh Parekh, a retired officer from Bank of India and a resident of Bajeria said, “The Yug Nirman Movement was launched under the guidance of Param Pujya Gurudev Pt Shriram Sharma Acharya on the solid foundation of Gayatri and Yadnya. Keeping in view the need of the hour, various steps have been taken to simplify the ritualistic procedure of Yadnya with a view to make it universally appealing and acceptable. This has been achieved by adoption of Deep Yadnya.

We have performed Deep Yadnya and recited Gayatri Mantra with Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra for nine times at 9.09 pm.” Uma Sharma, a retired officer from Radiology Department of Government Medical College and hospital and a member of Gayatri pariwar residing in Manewada area also performed Deep Yadnya in her house. She said, “Deep Yadnya is termed as Yug Yadnya by Pandit Shriram Acharya. It is the revolutionary procedure which has made possible, the propagation of Gayatri Sadhana and a lifestyle guided by the injunctions of Yadnya, in a very short period to large populace. Its popularity has spread with tremendous speed due to the use of lamps and fragrant sticks, which are universally used in worship and prayer by all religions.

Therefore, followers of all faiths participate in Deep Yadnya without hesitation. Also Dravya Yadnya in vogue requires much longer time and is therefore performed in batches, turn by turn. The devotees participating in Dravya Yadnya thus fail to derive the full benefits of inspiration from it. However Deep Yadnya is completed within a much shorter period of about one and a half hours and all participants collectively enjoy the delightful and enchanting view of the twinkling lamps. They thus derive the full benefit of inspiration from DeepYadnya.”

Gaurishankar Bisen, a retired scientist from Indian Bureau of Mines and his wife Kalpana Bisen also performed Deep Yadnya in their residence at Yashoda Nagar Hingana Road. Gaurishankar Bisen mentioned, “The real purpose of Yagya is to imbibe virtues like self-sacrifice, self-restraint (sanyam), charity, beneficence, generosity, compassion etc. in our daily life. It inspires us to surrender everything, body, mind, ego and soul to God. A Sadhak on surrendering himself to God, who has been described as Yadnya-purush in the scriptures, becomes one with Yadnya, just as samidhas on being consumed in the sacrificial fire of Yadnya become fire itself.

In fact real Yadnya is to follow the directions and inspirations of our dwelling divinity and imbibe righteous tendencies. Constant remembrance of the Divine, keeping an attitude of detachment and remaining engrossed in regular sacred studies and devotion amounts to leading a Yadnyiya life.” Sevakram Meshram, popular as Bandu Meshram, a senior member of Gayatri Shaktipeeth said, “Many devotees have performed Deep Yadnya in their respective houses and spread positive energies in respective areas in city. I am very glad the the city has joined 5500 centres across the globe and shown its responsibility. In addition, the arrangement to distribute food packets to needy and poor has been made in Gayatri Shaktipeeth Jagnade Square. Our head Dr Pranav Pandya had donated Rs one crore to Chief Minister’s fund in Uttarakhand and we the devotees are also working for the humanity.”
