Situation in Jahangirabad, which is one of the breeding grounds of coronavirus in Madhya Pradesh, seems to revisit normalcy as 50 per cent of the area is now safe. Of 1,25,000 residents in Jahangirabad, sampling of 60,000 people has been finished, informed district administration officials. Jahangirabad has contributed a major chunk of patients (271) to the district’s tally of coronavirus infected. Owing to administration’s stringent attitude towards this hotspot, number of positive cases in lockdown 3.0 has also decreased as compared to lockdown 4.0 here. Sub Divisional Magistrate (city circle) Jameel Khan told ‘The Hitavada’ that cops remain deployed here for 24 hours and none relaxation is being given here to the residents.

Every essential is being delivered at the doorsteps of the citizens and the whole area here is sealed, Khan added. Contamination confines to Chiklod road area: Only 34 people have tested positive here untill day 5 of the fourth phase of the lockdown. Among the new cases, most were from Chiklod road area, said SDM Khan. CSP Ashish Khare and his team remained deployed on Shabban Square to keep a vigilant eye on the movement of the citizens.

Despite increase in pace of sampling, the patients testing positive for coronavirus disease here have decreased. Now, the administration is aiming to free the Chiklod area from contamination. Sampling area decreased: In the lieu of lesser people testing positive for coronavirus, nearly 400 samples were taken until day-5 of lockdown 4.0. In the period of lockdown 3.0, more than 300 samples were being taken in Jahangirabad daily, SDM Khan said. The Sub Divisional Magistrate further said, however, the process of screening and survey is being done rapidly in rest of the area. It is notable that administration is struggling to break the chain of transmission in this area and nearly, three thousand people have been shifted to quarantine centres.
