Following detection of a COVID-19 patient, the area near his house in village Dahegaon Rangari was sealed on Saturday. The patient, a youngster, had come from Dharavi in Mumbai. On Friday, he complained of ill health, following which the local residents shifted him to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur. On Saturday, he was found COVID-19 positive.

As the information spread like a wildfire in the village, panic prevailed among the people. Atul Mehtare, Sub-Divisional Officer; Sanjay Pujjalwar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer; Chandrakant Kale, Police Station Officer; Anil Nagane, Block Development Officer, ordered sealing of the area near the residence of the patient. Mehtare said that a total of 18 close relatives of the patient were quarantined in Nagpur. Some villagers said that the patient had visited Chankapur, Khaperkheda, and Koradi.

They demanded that strict lockdown should be implemented in nearby villages. Meanwhile, as this is the first COVID-19 positive case in Saoner tehsil, a quarantine centre has been established at Sacred Heart School. The responsibility of the quarantine centre has been given to Satish Mashad, Naib Tehsildar; and Pawar, Circle Officer.
