As a major relief on the movement of people in the country, Air India and Indigo airlines have resumed domestic flight operations on May 25 from the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur after a gap of two months due to COVID-19 pandemic. Air India and Indigo operated a total four flights from Nagpur airport. Accordingly, there was one flight by Air India on the Nagpur-Delhi route. Similarly, Indigo flew one flight each on the Nagpur-Delhi, Nagpur-Mumbai and Nagpur-Bengaluru routes. Furthermore, Indigo cancelled the 6.30 pm flight on the Nagpur-Mumbai route, sources said. On the first day of restarting domestic flights, a total 596 passengers were handled at the Nagpur airport.

In all 375 passengers arrived and 221 passenger departed from the airport, said a senior airport official. He further said that the passenger traffic was normal as each plane has capacity of carrying 135 to 180 passengers. The airport staff made good arrangements for all the inbound and outbound passengers at the airport and followed the safety guidelines. All the passengers maintained social distancing norms and arrived with face masks and stood in queues as their luggage bags were sprayed with disinfectants as their turn came for entering the airport. The airport staff conducted thermal screening on the passengers before boarding. The passengers had to show Aarogya Setu status to airport staff before boarding the plane. There was only web check in at the airport.
 
The passengers had to collect safety kit and sanitiser near the boarding gate. The airlines provided an extra face shield to all the passengers boarding the airplanes. Also, the flight attendants wore personal protective equipment as a measure of safety. Apart from this, all the passengers that arrived at Nagpur Airport were given home quarantine stamp on their arms by the airport staff, sources said. Sources said that the passengers have to arrive at the airport two hours before the flight. Passengers will not be served meals to the passengers. One check in bag per passenger and one hand bag is allowed. Sources said that the Indigo flights at Mumbai will arrive and depart only from T2 airport entry gate number 3 and 4. Similarly, Indigo flights from New Delhi will arrive and depart only from T3 airport entry fate number 5 and 6.
