Railway men and machinery found a way out of the stalemate due to sealing of entry to Guards Line and the matter was mutually resolved on Thursday. The intervention on part of Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh (CRMS), Central Railway’s Nagpur Division, ensured that the issue did not blow out of proportion. Using the Railway manpower effectively, the Railway administration managed to seal off the road coming off from Motibagh, thereby minimising risk of any straying of stranger in the prohibited area. This also took care of apprehension of police officials.

Yesterday, a problem ensued after city police put restrictions on movement through Guards Line, adjoining the Ram Jhula, that triggered a flash point as Railway employees could not reach their workplace. CRMS leaders, including G M Sharma, Divisional Co-ordinator, and C P Singh, reached the spot and discussed the issued with on-duty police personnel. Discussion was thereafter held with senior police officials, who explained the rationale of blockade and pointed out the serious situation on hand. The CRMS leader pointed to a possible solution and said, there is way of ensuring that only railway personnel enter in the lane from Ram Jhula side.

The entry gate that opens on to Guard Line caters to offices of SSE/P Way/NGP; SSE/WKS; SSE/SIGNAL; SSE/C&W and most of the staff working in Control Office at DRM office campus are residing in the adjoining Railway Colony and they faced difficulty in moving to and for due to sealing off the entry point. The matter was also discussed with Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Somesh Kumar and he asked senior officers, including DSC Ashutosh Pandey and others, to find a way out. Sharma said, the Railway men worked late night and today, the workmen from Railways placed cement pipes to block any movement from Mominpura that is sealed by administration. Barricades were also placed in North side of colony near Nagpur D cabin and one extra entry/exit lane too was blocked. Now, city police have allowed movement of two-wheelers of Railway personnel, but the Guards Lane is now open for only one-way movement. No vehicle or personnel movement is coming from Motibagh side.
