Youth held for making child porn video viral

A polytechnic student was arrested for making child pornographic video clippings viral through social sites in Sector-6, Bhilai. The accused was remanded to jail after he was produced in the court following his arrest. Police sources informed that the accused identified as Ankit Verma (20), a resident of Cross Street-3, Sector-6, Bhilai. The police said that on basis of the facts recorded in the investigation police arrested the accused Ankit Verma for making viral child pornographic video clippings by uploading it in Instagram, the photos and videos sharing app.
 
The police said that complaint was lodged in the portal of National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), New Delhi under the special scheme ‘Cyber Crime Prevention Against Women and Children’ of Home Ministry, Government of India. In this connection legal action was initiated by police after a complaint was forwarded from Police Headquarter, Raipur. The police initiate legal action in such cases of making obscene video clippings viral in social sites. In the course of investigation and with inputs provided by Cyber Cell the police tracked down the accused and arrested him from his house.
 
The police have registered the offence against the accused under section 67 of Information Technology Act. Suresh Kumar Dhruv, Station House Officer, Bhilai Nagar Police Station informed that as per the confession of the accused Ankit Verma, through his mobile phone he had uploaded the child and woman pornographic video clippings in Instagram during May 2019. He said that the accused polytechnic student was seemingly addicted to use of cell phone. He was appearing to be quite restless in police custody when his cell phone was taken away and seized by the police.
