‘Favourable solar power policy will boost State’s economy’

Expressing his views on the importance of renewable energy, Maharashtra Power Minister Dr Nitin Raut recently said that favourable policies for solar power in the State will boost Maharashtra’s economic growth as well as reduce the State’s carbon footprint. He also said that the natural source of energy must be availed by way of installing roof top panels so that dependence on polluting ways of generating electricity could be reduced. Dr Raut was speaking at the webinar organised by the Vidarbha Chapter of Maharashtra Solar Manufacturer’s Association (MASMA).
 
Members of the association, and some of the senior officers in the concerned departments attended the event. The webinar took place at Vidyut Bhawan located at Katol Road Square in the city. During the webinar, Dinesh Waghmare, Principal Secretary (Energy), proposed that the representatives of MASMA should be included in the Energy Ministry’s High Power Committee. “MASMA posses in-depth knowledge on installing solar panels and thus it would help formulate effective and user friendly policies,” he said. Dr Raut acknowledge the point and assured to take positive step in coming days.
 
Subhash Dumre said that the present subsidy target set by the Central Government 25mW can be extended up to 100 mW. He also said that the target could be easily achieved in the current financial year if MEDA and Disscoms work hand in hand. At the outset, Team MASMA comprising Saket Suri, Amit Deotale, Sudhir Budhay and Pankaj Khirwadkar felicitated the minister for his contribution to solar industry in such a short span of time.
 
MASMA is a 20-year-old organisation working for solar policies promotion. DG MEDA Subhash Dumre; Director MSEDCL Satish Chavhan; CMD Mahagenco Shaila A; GM Meda Vikas Rode and MASMA President Pradeep Deshmukh took part in webinar. High Power Committee’s Anil Khaparde, Regional Director MSEDCL Suhas Rangari, Chief Engg MSEDCL Nagpur Dilip Dodke and others were also present.
