Carcass of a leopard was found in Karond beat of Kudwai jungle under Bhopal Forest Division. Autopsy suggested that the leopard died of hunger, thirst and heat wave. However, District Forests Officer (DFO) Rajesh Khare claimed that it is a natural death of leopard. Last rites of the leopard was held in Amravati nursery in present of forest officials.
 
The carcass was found very close to the water saucer made by the Forest Department for providing water to the wildlife. Patrolling team spotted the carcass and brought it to Amravati nursery where Veterinary Dr Manish Srivastav conducted the post-mortem and collected sample for laboratory. Dr Srivastav said that autopsy suggested that leopard is died of hunger and thirst as its intestine is dried up and there is nothing in its stomach.
 
He said that it seems that leopard had not eaten up anything for long time. The nine year old leopard was victim of heat waves and thirst. Water saucer where the carcass was lying was completely dried up. Local villagers said that movement of a leopard was in the area for past 15 days. They also informed about leopard’s presence to Forest Department.
