With 44.20 Celcius it was hottest day this season

Sunday was the hottest day of the season till date in the city, which recorded a maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius. This was 2.1 degrees above normal. Akola was the hottest in Vidarbha and second hottest in the country with 44.9 degree Celsius. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave warning for few districts of Vidarbha for next couple of days. IMD predicted that the maximum temperature will increase throughout the district and heatwave will be observed at Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia and Wardha on May 4 and 5.
The weather department informed that Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be experiencing a rise of two to three degree Celsius in their maximum temperatures in the coming days. The scorching temperature on Sunday was felt by cops, sanitation workers, medical staff and other essential and emergency service providers who were on their work amid this lockdown. In next couple of days, the maximum temperature is expected to cross 45 degree mark in most parts of Vidarbha. Whereas the maximum temperature will cross over 46 degrees in Akola and Bramhapuri in next few days.
“The Western Disturbance (WD) which was responsible for rains and thunderstorm in the region from last many days, is now over and Vidarbha will get dry weather with heatwave conditions in near future,” said a weather expert to The Hitavada. On Sunday, Bramhapuri (44.1 degree Celsius) and Wardha (44.2) also recorded the maximum temperature over 44 degrees Celsius. Whereas, Amravati (43.8), Chandrapur (43.8), Washim (42.8), Gondia (42.6) and Gadchiroli (42.0) recorded maximum temperature above 42 degrees on Sunday. Buldhana was the only place in Vidarbha which recorded the maximum temperature below 42 degrees Celsius. With highest maximum temperature in Vidarbha, Akola also recorded the highest minimum temperature with 28.3 degrees Celsius. Buldhana also recorded the minimum temperature above 28 degrees. Remaining parts of Vidarbha also recorded the minimum temperature above 24 degrees on Sunday.
