The baby who was born in IGGMCH tests negative twice for coronavirus
There is always positivism in negativity. Same thing was experienced on Tuesday by the frontline healthworkers in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), who are tirelessly working for the last over one and half months, when five coronavirus patients recovered. By now, 55 patients have recovered from both the hospitals. But, the five those discharged on Tuesday have something special. It was on April 29 that four persons recovered and were discharged.
Two who were having Ajmer traveling history and Satranjipura connection respectively tested negative for consecutive twice got discharged from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). But another duo, residents of Jaripatka recovered after remaining under observation in isolation wards at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). Both these patients are the close contacts of the one, resident of Khamla who tested positive. The father, 38-year-old male recovered a week ago but the examination of samples of his daughter was not conducted. So the father had decided to stay till his daughter’s report came. Finally, her report came and she was declared as recovered.
Same story repeated on Tuesday when another pair of father and daughter got discharged. The man, a 47-year-old who too, close contact of Khamla resident, himself of the same area had recovered with the Jaripatka resident. But, he too had decided to stay till his 16-year-old daughter recovers. On Tuesday, the daughter, too, tested negative and both got discharged. Father was admitted on March 26 and daughter was admitted on March 27. Dr Sagar Pande, from Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM) who is leading the team in IGGMCH in Covid-19 war said, “It was a happy moment for all of us. We wanted to celebrate the recovery of father and daughter on April 29 when both Jaripatka residents were discharged but we could not due to the death of a 70-year-old man then.
On Tuesday, we did celebrate when another father and daughter got recovered. Now, Jaripatka and Khamla chain ended.” GMCH too experienced a very emotional incident wherein parents with their 3-day-old baby are fully recovered and got discharged. The mother, a 23-year-old female admitted on April 17, and her 33-year-old husband came to hospital, the next day, both coronacirus positive. The woman was pregnant and delivered baby, two days ago. To their pleasant surprise, the baby tested negative twice. Meanwhile, both parents too tested negative twice. As per the guidelines both were declared recovered apart from their 3-day-old baby.
They are the residents of a place behind Badi Masjid, Satranjipura. Dr Avinash Gawande, Medical Superintendent, Dr Kanchan Wankhede, Dr Manish Thakre, Dr Jayesh Mukhi, Dr Majushri Waikar, Head, Department of Gynaecology Department; Dr N J Tirpude, Head, Department of Anaesthesia; Dr Mohd Faisal, in-charge at Trauma Centre; Dr Rujuta Fuke, Dr Shubhangi, Dr Samit Gaidhane, Dr Shrikant, Surekha Tatewar, Social Worker felicitated the parents and baby. Total number of people got recovered till Sunday was 46 with 24 from GMCH and 20 from IGGMCH. With recovery of four on Monday the number of recovered reached at 50. Tally of IGGMCH stood at 26 and GMCH’s at 24. On Tuesday, the number of recovered reached 55--GMCH 27 and IGGMCH 28.
Baby who was born on April 29 tests negative The pregnant woman, having Mominpura connection, was admitted to IGGMCH at 11.30 pm on April 28. Considering her connection, her throat swab sample was already collected and sent to the virology laboratory for examination. On April 29 morning around 8.30 am, she delivered a baby after a normal delivery. After her delivery her sample report was released that confirmed the mother’s test positive for coronavirus. But doctors were more worried about baby whose sample was supposed to be examined after 48 hours of the birth. Another sample was to be examined after five days of birth. Fortunately both the samples of baby tested negative and everybody got a sigh of relief. The baby became corona-free. The baby is absolutely normal that weighs 2.2 kg which is good.
