A day after a 26-year-old woman from Farid Nagar in Bhilai was found infected with cornavirus, the District Administration of Durg declared it containment zone while prohibiting vehicular movements in the area. The Health Department authorities have been ordered by the Collector for surveying the area and contact tracing besides collection of samples. People have been prohibited from venturing out of their homes except in case of medical emergency in Farid Nagar. Meanwhile, the family members of the woman found COVID-19 positive have been home quarantined.
All the shops in the area have been closed till further orders while the officer in-charge is ensuring home delivery of essentials on appropriate rates. Meanwhile the police patrolling in the area is also being done as per norms of the Health Department. The Collector has assigned various responsibilities to different officers to combat COVID-19 spread in the area.
One entry and exit point in the area through barricading has been ensured by Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department while the Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner is looking after supply of essential commodities and sanitisation arrangements. Chief Medical and Health Officer is ensuring active surveillance, distribution of masks, medicines as per Standard Operating Procedure and medical waste management. Meanwhile the Zone Commissioner has been deputed as in-charge officer for monitoring.
