Two delegations including The Wholesale Grain and Seeds Merchant Association and Mahatma Phule Sabji and Fruit Adatiya Association met Dr Nitin Raut, Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Ravindra Thakare, District Collector of Nagpur. Both the associations demanded to regularise the main markets. The delegation of The Wholesale Grain and Seeds Merchant Association led by Santosh Kumar Agrawal, President; Pratap Motwani, Secretary demanded that the New Grain Market located at the Kalamna Marketyard should be remain open on all week days except Sunday. Pratap Motwani said, “With the opening of market for three days, farmers bringing the foodgrains have to wait for 3 days, if their turn does not come.
There is also problem of loading and unloading due to limited time. Even supply of essential commodities like foodgrains is also disrupted due to working of the wholesale market for three days in a week.” Santosh Kumar Agrawal said, the market is isolated from the main market and there is no question of crowd, only three to four people are present during the loading and unloading. Therefore the market should be allowed to operate on all days.
Delegation of Mahatma Fule Sabji and Fruits Adatiya Association led by Vikas Thakre, MLA also met Dr Nitin Raut. Ram Mahajan, Secretary Mahatma Phule Market said, “The condition of the adatiyas has worsened. Even the alternate arrangement for new markets in different zones of city is also not solving the purpose.”
