Teenager ends life after father stops her from going out

STOPPED from going out by her father due to the ongoing lockdown, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide in Wadi area on Tuesday. A Std X student, Ashlesha Mukesh Raut was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house at Ambedkar Nagar, near Ashok Chowk around 7 pm. After recording the statement of Mukesh Radheshyam Raut (45), father of the deceased, Wadi Police registered a case under Section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure.
Assistant Police Inspector Dhawale told ‘The Hitavada’ that Ashlesha was depressed after being allegedly prevented by her father from going out. “Her father asked her not to move out in lockdown as she could be exposed to the deadly coronavirus. The warning did not go down well with her and she took the extreme step,” he added.
