ANTI-CORRUPTION Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught Assistant Police Inspector (API) Pradeep Madhu Atulkar and Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Umesh Jyotiram Gutal red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a Head Constable after threatening to implicate him in a child abuse case. Accused API Atulkar (40) and PSI Gutal (31) were attached to Gondia (Rural) Police Station. On May 30, a non- cognisable offence under Section 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the Head Constable at Gondia (Rural) Police Station. API Atulkar, who In-charge of the police station, had summoned him two-three times for inquiry purposes.
 
On June 17, API Atulkar again summoned the Head Constable and told him that he may be booked under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act for cruelty towards children and would damage his service record. To settle the matter by compromising with the person who had lodged a complaint against him, API Atulkar asked him to shell out Rs 35,000. He told the Head Constable to give the amount to PSI Gotal. API Atulkar also told him that he and PSI Gotal would mediate with complainant Pradeep Nagorao Bansod to settle matter.
 
After negotiating with API Atulkar, the Head Constable lodged a complaint against him and PSI Gotal with ACB officer. Subsequently, the bureau officers laid a trap and caught API Atulkar when he accepted Rs 35,000 cash from the Head Constable. An offence under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against API Atulkar and PSI Gotal at the same police station. The trap was laid by DySP Ramakant Kokate and his team comprising ASI Shivshankar Tumde, ASI Vijay Khobragade, HC Pradeep Tulaskar, HC Rajesh Shende, NPC Ranjit Bisen, NPC and others under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Rashmi Nandedkar and Addl SP Rajesh Duddhalwar.

The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a junior assistant in the establishment section of Wardha Panchayat Samiti (PS)while accepting Rs 1,000 bribe from a retired teacher. It is alleged that the accused Amol Waghmare (32) was using delaying tactics to deprive the retired teacher Balraj Gupta of his retirement fund and provident fund for last six months. Finally, the accused demanded Rs 1,000 to release the amount. Later, the accused released the cheque of Rs 25.56 lakh as the teacher agreed to pay the amount. But fed up with mental harassment, the teacher lodged a compliant with ACB on June 11. The ACB sleuths verified the compliant after which a trap was laid. As the accused Amol Waghmare accepted Rs 1,000 from the complainant near a photocopy centre in Panchayat Samiti area, the ACB cops arrested him. Sub-Divisional Police Officer of ACB Gajanan Vikhe, PI Suhas Chaudhari, Atul Vaidya, Roshan Nimbolkar, Sagar Bhosale, Vijay Upase, Pradeep Kuchankar and Nilesh Mahajan took the action.
