Nagpurians join world in celebrating International Yoga Day with great zeal

Amid restrictions due to lockdown in force in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, various organisations and their members celebrated International Yoga Day with enthusiasm, mostly from their homes or office premises, or in small gatherings, on Sunday. Janardanswami Yogabhyasi Mandal “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts have resulted in gaining popularity for yoga. The International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the world and in future also Yoga will have a scope across the world. The entire world is looking towards India for the good yoga teachers and youths have tremendous scope in this field,” said Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari. Gadkari was addressing the International Yoga Day programme organised by Janardanswami Yogabhyasi Mandal, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, South Central Zone Cultural Centre, and others.
 
Gadkari recalled the association of his mother with Yogabhyasi Mandal. He also appreciated the efforts of Yogabhyasi Mandal for conducting the programme on-line by using modern techniques. Over one lakh persons participated on-line in the event telecast on You Tube, Facebook, Instagram etc. Karyawah of Yogabhyasi Mandal, Ram Khandwe made introductory remarks and highlighted importance of the unique event. Swami Govinddeo Giri Maharaj, Jitendranath Maharaj, BHagwat Kathakar Shriram Joshi; Vivek Ghalsasi, SCZCC Director Dr Deepak Khirwadkar expressed their views. Varsha Kaushik conducted the on-line programme. KKSU “Yogasadhana is the only alternative to develop creativity and positive thinking in human beings,” said Vice-Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) Ramtek, Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi. The Post Graduate Department of Darshan Shashtra and Yoga Shashtra of KKSU had organised a programme to celebrate Yoga Day.
 
The on-line programme was organised by the University and it was presided over by Prof Varakhedi. Convenor Dr Madhusudhan Penna and Dr Kalapini Agasthi also were present. An e-publication of research journal of KKSU ‘Shodh Samhita’; a special issue of ‘Yogabharati’ edited by Dr Kalapini Agasthi and e-inauguration of on-line Yoga Guidance Centre were held at the hands of Prof Varakhedi. Priya, Priyanka, Pundlik and Sachin demonstrated Yogasanas. Prof Madhusudan Penna made introductory remarks. KKSU’s Yogashashtra Department had organised yoga camps across the country from June 1 to 21. Rashmi Kumath and Mithilesh Bhakre were the trainers. Mithilesh Bhakre conducted the proceedings and Dr Kalapini Agasthi proposed a vote of thanks. UMANG Sub-Area and Station Kamptee Indian Army personnel, their families of Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat (UMANG) Sub-Area and Station Kamptee practiced yogasanas in small groups by adopting all COVID-19 precautions, ensuring social distancing, to celebrate International Yoga Day.
 
As per the directions, it was celebrated in situ without any mass gatherings. The activities were carried out in Other Ranks lines and family quarters. In all, 107 families and 1,729 Army personnel participated at various locations. No organised activities were carried out as per the instructions. SCZCC South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) along with Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal, Ram Nagar jointly organised a programme to mark International Yoga Day on Sunday. It was celebrated on-line and more than one lakh persons participated in the programme by performing Yoga in their houses. The programme was inaugurated at the hands of Yoga Guru and Karyawah of Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal, Ram Khandwe. All employees, officers and staff members of SCZCC participated in the event. Director of SCZCC, Dr Deepak Khirwadkar also demonstrated yogasana. At the concluding event, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari; Mayor Sandeep Joshi; Jitendra Nath Maharaj, Vivek Ghalsasi, Mahesh Elkunchwar and others also were present. NMC “Yoga is a key for a healthy life.
 
Yoga plays an important role in maintaining good health and its importance is accepted at international level,” said NMC Mayor Sandeep Joshi. On the occasion of International yoga Day, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had appealed to the citizens to celebrate it at their respective residences. Mayor Sandeep Joshi has greeted citizens on Yoga day. 3 Mah Girls Bn NCC 3 Maharashtra girls Battalion NCC Nagpur (Lt Col V D Paranjape Memorial School)cadets conducted International day of Yoga in their home as per goverenment guidelines.Cadets performed yoga with their families on International day of yoga on 21june,7 to 7.45am in morning via DD National and other regional channels of doordarshan. Rashtra Sevika Samiti “Life style based on Yoga is the only solution to all global problems,” said Nivedita Bhide, Vice President of Vivekanand Kendra Kanyakumari. She was addressing valedictory function of a weeklong Yoga Training Camp organised on-line by Rashtra Sevika Samiti across the country. The programme was held on Facebook live. Akhil Bharatiya Sharirik Pramukh of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Manisha Sant made introductory remarks. Over 50,000 sevikas of participated and one thousand Yoga teachers gave training.
