Walk, eat light and laugh: Dr Chandekar

DR MURLIDHAR Chandekar, Vice-Chancellor, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), during his message on International Yoga Day, suggested a three-point formula of walking regularly, eating lesser than a full stomach and laughing for everybody. “The entire world has recognised benefits of yoga during the corona pandemic. Apart from India many western countries are adopting yoga-based lifestyle. The practice does not involve any equipment and can be performed by all.

College students, in order to have a good physical and mental health, must regularly do yoga and pranayam,” Dr Chandekar asserted. At the outset, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, Sports and Physical Education, RTMNU made the introductory remarks. Students of Priyadarshini Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Wardha presented a demonstration of various warm-up exercises while students of Nabira Mahavidyalaya presented yoga demo.
 
Nagpur Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya students present pranayam techniques. Dr Sonali Sirbhate-Suryawanshi of Priyadarshini Women’s College, Wardha conducted the proceedings. Dr Kumkum Boratkar of Nagpur Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Dr Tejsingh Jagdale of Nabira Mahavidyalaya, Katol; Dr Amit Tembhurne of MB Patel College, Sakoli; Dr Sudhir Sahare of Late Nirdhan Patil Mahavidyalaya, Lakhani; Dr Aditya Soni, of Vasantrao Naik College of Physical Education, Dr Pravin Kumar of NMD College, Gondia and Dr Hargovind Chaurasiya of SS Girls College, Gondia co-ordinated for the event. In the concluding speech, Dr Niraj Khati, Registrar, stressed on the need to follow yoga to have a good mental health. All the heads of academic departments, principals, teachers, employees and others also took part in this function.
