ARMED desperadoes went on a rampage and damaged 32 vehicles, including an autorickshaw, after looting cash from a lawyer’s house at Kuradkarpeth, Lashkaribag creating sensation in Pachpaoli area on Sunday night. Cops arrested five hooligans and launched a manhunt for the others. Adv Manoj Waman Wasnik (45), a resident of Kuradkarpeth, Lashkaribag, told police that his neighbour Saurabh Sudhir Wasnik, Virendra alias Babu Bakri, Alakshit Ambade, Rahul Jarunde, Hukya Bihade and their five-six accomplices carrying swords, knives and sticks stormed into his house around 11.40 pm.

They broke the electric meter and broke tin doors with swords. By placing a sword on his neck, Saurabh demanded cash from him. Saurabh and his accomplices then forced him to open an almirah and looted Rs 2500. As residents gathered in front of his house, the heavily armed hooligans came out and started threatening them of dire consequences. While fleeing, they smashed the windshield of an autorickshaw (MH-49/E-4348) and damaged 31 two-wheelers parked in the lane.
 
Residents panicked and called the police. After recording Adv Manoj Wasnik’s statement, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under Sections 395, 506(b), 427 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 4+25 of Arms Act, against the hooligans. Later, cops nabbed Saurabh Wasnik (24), Alakshit Rajesh Ambade (19), Rohan Jarunde (28) and Roshan Shankar Bihade (22) and Amit alias Daddu Gajbhiye (19) and seized four swords from their possession.The arrests were made by Senior PI Kishor Nagrale, PI Mahesh Dhawane, API Suraj Suroshe and constabulary staff under the supervision of DCP (Zone III) Rahul Maknikar and ACP (Lakadganj Division) R S Pardesi.
