Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC), Nagpur has come up with in-house all aluminium foot-operable sanitizer dispenser and alcohol based advanced hand sanitizer “Corovirunil” that would come convenient in the fight against COVID-19. The purpose of the invention is to control the spread of coronavirus from an infected person to others while using the same sanitizer bottle. With this device, the sanitizer could be used without touching the bottle with hands.
By pressing the pedal with a foot, the bottle would dispense the liquid automatically. Bottles of different sizes from 500 ml to 1 Lit could be fixed. All aluminium foot operable sanitizer dispenser is fabricated from aluminium alloys which is lightweight (portable) and long lasting. Various extruded and rolled aluminium products are used to fabricate the same which can beat any portable sanitizer dispenser in terms of weight and operating life.
In addition to this the whole unit could be recycled and is rust proof, informed Dr Upendra Singh, Principal Scientist and HoD Analytical, JNARDDC to The Hitavada. The advanced hand rub sanitizer has been developed as per WHO guidelines using purified 2-Propanol, glycerol, hydrogen peroxide, Essential oil, dyes and fragrance. “A batch of 5 ltr sanitizer has been produced and second batch is in line. The device and sanitizer were mainly developed for internal use in common areas but if we get requirements from outside then we can produce for that purpose also,” said Dr Singh.
The In-house development of these two products would achieve the well advocated “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” of Government of India. Dr Singh said, “Currently we are producing 100 ltrs of sanitizer and five dispensers which can fulfil the demand of the Institution for six months.” Dr Anupam Agnihotri, Director, JNARDDC has taken special interest in this in-house development and deputed a team of scientists to work in designing and developing the products. For foot operable dispenser, Vishwanath, Senior Scientist, Samrat, Pravin, Dilip and team led by R N Chouhan, HoD Downstream, and for Advanced sanitizer, Jyoti Pendam, Junior Scientist and Sonali Thawrani, Scientific Assistant led by Dr Upendra Singh, HoD analytical were involved in this investigation.
