VARIOUS district basketball associations of Maharashtra will be organising a Webinar — ‘MahaBasket’ in association with Directorate Sports and Youth Services Government of Maharashtra from Tuesday June 30 to July 5. The Webinar will be held at 11.30 am daily on Zoom App. Around 750 participants across Maharashtra have registered for the Webinar till Sunday evening. Only 1000 entries will be accepted on first come first serve basis, informs a press release issued by Shatrughna Gokhale, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Coordinator of Webinar.
Those interested can submit their entry forms through https://forms.gle/2WdHN6oYDXceDe996 The six-day ‘MahaBasket’ Webinar will include lectures and interactive sessions from the experts of the game. The inaugural session will be conducted by Dr Dhananjay Welukar, former Director, Physical Education and Sports Department, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, on ‘Process to Peak’. Dr Welukar will deliver lecture on making of a player, the process from basic to peak.
Dr Kevin Agrawal, a renowned Sports Physiotherapist, will speak on injury free sports and first aid, how to avoid injuries, what should be done immediately if a player gets injured during practice session or during a competitive game on the second day. On the third day, Dr Sharad Bansode, FIBA Black License International Referee will speak on the technical aspects and officiating philosophy of basketball. Referees, coaches and players can learn a lot from this session.
This will be followed by session from Dr Megha Kumare, renowned dietitian who will speak on the importance of role of nutrition for basketball players. On fifth day, international basketball player and coach and FIBA Certified Facilitator, Arnika Gujar Patil will educate coaches across Maharashtra. She will speak on Introduction to FIBA WABC coaching. This is a very important session for coaches as most of the Coaches especially in rural areas/cities in Maharashtra don’t have information about coaches certification courses, how to apply, from where to get material to study online etc. Rajesh Kshatriya, chief basketball NIS coach will speak on importance of training session.
In the evening, international basketball player Shireen Limaye, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and International player Siddhant Shinde will share their experiences in Meet the Legend programme. Both the international players will also interact with the budding players. Gokhale, Dr Jaiprakash Duble, Joint Director Sports and Youth Services, and Avinash Pund, Acting Deputy Director Nagpur Division, are working hard to make this Webinar a huge success.
