One more death reported; 23 new corona cases found

Twenty three fresh cases of corona positive have been detected in different districts of State while one death has been reported whose test confirmed that the deceased was corona positive. Meanwhile, nine patients were discharged on Tuesday. A nine-year-old girl admitted in the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Bilaspur died while undergoing treatment in the hospital on Saturday. After the incident, the Health Department quarantined about 50 people including villagers and the hospital staff who came in contact with the deceased during her treatment.

According to information received from Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Pramod Mahajan, the deceased, a resident of Masturi, returned home from Allahabad along with her parents in a special bus last week. Since then, she was suffering from cold, cough, fever, headache and body pain. She was then taken to a private hospital and subsequently to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) where she died on Saturday. After her death, her parents performed her last rites amidst large number villagers on the following day.

Meanwhile, the reports of her samples were received by the doctors in CIMS on Monday evening which confirmed her tests positive. Immediately after receiving the reports the Health Department quarantined about 15 doctors, nurses and other para-medical staffs who came in contact with the deceased during her treatment and also about 35 villagers who attended her funeral. Meanwhile, Dr Akhilesh Tripathi, Deputy Director Health and Media In-charge for COVID state Control and Command Centre informed that 22 fresh cases have been reported from different district of State. Five cases are from Jashpur, three cases each from Bilaspur, Korba, Baloda Bazaar and Balod, two cases are from Janjgir, one each from Raigarh, Koriya, Mungeli and Gariaband. Nine patients were discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur. Out of them four patients were from Mungeli, four from Bemetara and one from Balod districts. Total numbers of discharged patients are now 130.

Total numbers of active cases are 441 in State while overall numbers of positive cases reached 573. At present, 113 patients are undergoing treatment in AIIMS, Raipur, 72 in Dedicated Covid Hospital, Mana; 61 in Covid Hospital, Bilaspur; 64 in Medical College Hospital, Ambikapur; 28 in Medical College Hospital, Raigarh; 41 in Medical College Hospital, Rajnandgaon; 18 in Medical College Hospital, Jagdalpur; 19 in ESI Covid Hospital, Korba and 4 in Shri Shankaracharya Junwani Hospital, Durg. At present, over 73,205 samples were collected all over State, out of which, 71,218 were found negative and reports of 1,431are awaited. As per record, 51,588 passengers with travel history are under home quarantine. While 2,16,862 workers are in State operated quarantine centres. 243 passengers arrived by domestic flights on Tuesday.
