WITH ensuring strict compliance of all precautionary measures to curb spread of COVID-19 pandemic among police officials and personnel, police are initiating additional measures as a few police constables tested positive for COVID-19. As part of additional measures police have initiated barricading such police stations’ premises to contain spread of the pandemic. According to information, as part of additional measures in the same context on Monday police opted for barricading at entrance of Supela Police Station in Bhilai with a police constable tested positive for COVID-19. After the test report received he was admitted to COVID Hospital in Bhilai for treatment.
The samples of all police officials and personnel of the police station were collected consequently for the test while reports are awaited. The constables from Newai and Mohan Nagar police stations were also tested positive and the police stations’ building were sealed but routine work resumed at the building with all other tested negative for COVID-19.
When contacted, Rohit Kumar Jha, ASP (City) informed that in wake of few constable tested positive for COVID-19, the police are initiating additional precautionary measures at such police stations’ premises to curb spread of the pandemic among police officials and personnel and among visitors by them and vice versa. With barricading general complainants will not have to enter police station building and the police would allow those visiting police stations with complainants in which FIR could be registered.
ASP (City), Jha added that however since spread of COVID-19 pandemic police have initiated all due precautionary measures viz hand hygiene, mask wearing, sanitization of police station building, police vans, patrolling vehicles etc are being undertaken as per norms. The police are initiating precautionary measures at all level with ensuring strict compliance.
