Dispenser pumps, commonly known spray guns fitted on sanitiser bottles, are is being sold at double price in wholesale in a very short span of a week’s time. The medical wholesale supply market started sensing the heat of short supply of these spray guns and bottles of different sizes with rise in prices of sanitisers. At present, mostly spray guns and its components are being imported from other countries. Only a few players are active in indigenous production of spray pumps. But mostly supplies are under contract for industries. In normal market conditions, the wholesale price of this bottle top spray gun ranges between Rs 12 to Rs 15 per piece for 500 ml to 1000 ml sizes.

The short supply started showing its impact in the market since last one week. These spray guns are causing price rise of packaging of sanitiser, an important tool to cut spread of pandemic COVID-19 and also to maintain personal hygiene. There has been rise in demand of sanitiser and its consumption as well as short supply of component of guns from foreign suppliers.

Mainly due to COVID-19 preventive measures, the stock is in halt at major supply points including Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi and other cities. The inclusion of sanitiser manufacturing with WHO standard mix by cottage and MSMEs has increased players in production and hence demand of bottles fitted with spray guns has increased manifold.
