Citizens take social distancing for granted

The State capital recorded a noticeable spurt in coronavirus cases since Unlock 1.0 raising eyebrows on the administration’s preparation to open the market. Citizens can be seen in markets not wearing masks and violating social distancing norms. In past five days, the worst-hit district, Indore has reported 147 fresh patients of coronavirus. Meanwhile, 215 cases were detected in the State capital. Although in first five days of May, Indore reported 215 cases and only 55 were found in Bhopal.

This sudden spread of the viral infection in Bhopal is worrisome and the citizens too need to respect social distancing. If the same situation prevails for longer, Bhopal may surpass Indore in number of positive cases recorded. Nearly half-a-dozen areas like Jahangirabad, Aishbagh, Kotra Sultanabad, Mangalwara, Banganga and others have turned into the breeding ground for coronavirus. The main reason behind doubling of cases here in Bhopal is either the negligence of social distancing or the congested streets in many areas.Common taps in a locality too invite large gatherings and residents of most areas avoid wearing masks.
