DR MURLIDHAR Chandekar, on the last day of the 10-day online Webinar on ‘Making of Champions’, organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, said that health and fitness issues will become an important priority for everyone in life after COVID-19. “After the coronavirus pandemic it will be even more important to stay fit and healthy. Players as well as individuals should perform pranayam on a daily basis to improve their immunity. A good and balanced diet is also very crucial during and after the outbreak,” said Dr Chandekar, the Vice-Chancellor of the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, during the Webinar.
Chandekar also explained the crucial role of physical education teachers during and after the pandemic. “The role of physical education teachers will be very important during and after the pandemic. They will carry the responsibility of people’s well-being on their shoulders. Physical education teachers should also look after stressed students and citizens. In order to improve health and immunity, guidance from physical education teachers will be needed and to connect with the masses, physical education teachers should use all social media platforms and online mediums,” said Chandekar.
“The knowledge received during this 10-day Webinar is not restricted for players but rather should be used by everyone. One should also follow the traditional Indian diet and exercise routine to improve their immunity and fitness level,” he added. Chief guest Dr Niraj Khati, Registrar of RTM Nagpur University, during the closing ceremony said, “To ensure more participation of students in future strong efforts will be made. Physical education teachers across different universities should also encourage students to take part in outdoor sports.” The Webinar was attended by over 400 participants from various Indian universities that comprised physical education professors, sports teachers, trainers, present and past national and international players. All participants were given participation certificates online.
Earlier, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, Department of Physical Education and Sports, RTMNU made introductory remarks while Dr Madhavi Mardikar, Convenor, PGTD, RTMNU delivered the closing remarks. The closing session was conducted by Dr Sanjay Chaudhari of SBCT College while Dr Amit Tembhurne of RM Patel College, Sakoli, proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Deepak Kavishwar, General Secretary, Asia Atyapatya Association; Dr Vishakha Joshi, Member, Nagpur University Physical Education Teachers Association; Shiv Chhatrapati award winner Bhavna Bhotmange, Dr Vijay Datarkar, President, Department of Physical Education and Sports of Jyotiba College of Physical Education; Dr Keshav Bhagat, Dr Rajratan Durge, Dr Aditya Soni, Dr Ramchandra Rao, Dr Sudhir Sahare, Dr Pravin Kumar and other members were also present during the closing ceremony.
