Amid rumours pouring on social media about re-enforcement of lockdown in the State, Chhattisgarh Government has clarified that the State Government has no plan to re-enforce lockdown in the State even while the corona cases are increasing day by day in Chhattisgarh. If the State Government enforces the lockdown again in the State, business activities would be badly hit that may lead to people to getting jobless particularly in private sectors.

Employees in private sectors are already facing salary cuts due to the ensuing crisis. Several industrial units in State are facing labour crunch because train services have remained suspended. So it is very difficult for the State Government to re-enforce lockdown in the State. Speaking to The Hitavada, Chief Secretary R P Mandal said that the State Government has so far no plan to re-enforce lockdown in the State. The corona situation in the State will be discussed in the next cabinet meeting scheduled to be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Raipur on July 14, he added. The Chief Secretary said that the situation in the state is not grave as in some neighbouring states.

The State Government’s calculated steps very early has checked the transmission of the disease in the state. Now the cases have raised but it’s not very alarming and the health department has taken all measures for its virtual prevention. Earlier, Health Minister T S Singhdeo also denied enforcing lockdown yet again in the state from July 13 and said that fake news is being spread on social media. It may be mentioned that various business activities have been resumed in the state after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India has allowed to open up more activities.

The MHA issued new guidelines for Unlock 2 on June 29. According to the MHA’s new guidelines, the MHA has allowed the states to start more activities outside containment zones. Chhattisgarh Government has re-opened various activities including places of worship for public; hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services; and shopping malls. After extensive consultation with States and Union Territories, the MHA has decided that schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till July 31.
