A COMBINED team of Cantonment Board Jabalpur and Cantonment police stopped illegal modification work at leased shop, seized material and registered a case against the shop owner and others on Saturday. Chief Executive Officer of Cantonment Board Subrat Pal filed a written complaint at Cantonment police station that Cantonment Board is land owner of Sadar Chowpati and allotted shops on lease at Chowpati in 2017. Shop number-23 was allotted to Prerna Gupta and shop number-24 to Tarachand Gupta.

In the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, security guard deployed at Chowpati informed that the owner of shop number-24, Ashish Gupta alias Pappu Gupta and others were cutting steel sheet of shop to open the shop towards Sadar main road. Cantonment administration found that the shop owner was illegally damaging the property of Cantonment Board without taking permission.

Acting promptly on the information, a combined team of Cantonment Board and Cantt police reached the spot and stopped illegal modification of shop. Police have seized the material from the spot and registered a case under Section 333 of Cantonment Act 2006 and other relevant sections of the IPC while further investigations are underway.
