Door-to-door delivery of heavy consignment now available at Solapur, Kolhapur, Nashik and Akola
India Post Railway Parcel Service, a joint venture of Central Railway and Maharashtra Postal Circle, started from and between Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur has expanded and is now made available at Solapur, Kolhapur, Nashik and Akola. The service began ex-Nagpur from where a consignment of medicine was dispatched to Mumbai.
The prevailing situation due to COVID-19 lockdown has put individuals and commercial establishments in spot as they are finding it difficult to move their large size consignments containing essential and other items. Speed Post service is being widely used by a large number of public for sending their parcels. However, for consignments in high weight slabs, the customers had a real problem as problem was first they had to transport these items to the Post offices for booking. So the new service solves the issue and most importantly ensures end to end service, right from picking-up consignment from dispatcher's place to delivery at doorstep of receiver.
In that view ,the special parcel trains being operated by the Central Railway, the Central Railway and Maharashtra Postal Circle synergised the capabilities of India Post and Indian Railways within Maharashtra State by offering India Post Railway Parcel Service w.e.f. 15/05/2020 from and between Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur stations. As per the arraignment, the consignments are dispatched through parcel trains being operated by the Central Railway and Postal Mail Motor Service. This service enables the customers to avail transportation of the consignments at economical rate and with door step service facility.
