UPCOMING chess player of the city Aditya Bodkhe dominated the two-day event to emerge champion of the second edition of the Nagpur District Chess Association organised second Online Rapid Chess Competition. Twelve-year-old Bodkhe kept his slate clean to win his first online chess competition organised by NDCA. Playing four rounds on the first day, Bodkhe registered four wins to lead the table. He continued his imperious form the following day and stunned some higher rated players to claim the title. On his way to clinching the crown, Bodkhe got the better of Yugant Ramteke in 25 moves. The confidence boosting win with black pieces helped Bodhke beat veteran YM Shamkuwar.
 
Bodhke then stunned Nilay Kulkarni and ended the first day with another victory over Krishna Taori. Resuming the second day, Bodhke did not let the advantage slip away as he started with a win over Aarav Dharmik and the consolidated his position at the top with a fine win over Aastha Turankar. In the seventh round, Bodhke recorded an exciting 42-move win over Ayush Ramteke and then made the light work of VK Shrivastava in a 14-move battle. Nilay Kulkarni with 6.5 points finished second with six wins, one loss and a draw while rookie Aarav Dharmik finished third with 6 points from six wins and two draws.
 
The first edition of this online rapid chess meet was clinched by R Shiva Subramaniam while Sumedh Ramteke and Kaustav Barat took the second and third spot respectively. The tournament was held under the supervision of IA Swapnil Bansod, IA Pravin Pantawane and FA Umesh Panbude.
