New initiative of issuing ‘Yellow Smart Card’ by Traffic Police Jabalpur with compiled information of vehicle registration certificate, insurance update and track record of vehicles has evoking tremendous response from the residents in the district. Even after COVID-19 pandemic, more than 2,000 Yellow Cards were issued to the residents in a month. DSP (Traffic), Mayank Singh Chouhan, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that the Yellow Card scheme has been initiated in association with a private firm for issuing smart cards to vehicle owners with compiled information of vehicle registration certificate and vehicle insurance details.
 
Yellow Smart Card will help the vehicle owners to avoid carrying original vehicle documents and issuing more than one smart card for every family member or drivers. Traffic Police are issuing the Yellow Smart Card to residents with the help of Indore based private firm Save Life Cycle. Residents are being informed about the scheme through public announcement systems at main squares in the city.
 
Owner of Save Life Cycle, Prafull Joshi informed that till now they have issued more than 2,000 Yellow Smart Cards to 1,600 two wheelers, 400 commercial vehicles and around 50 four-wheelers. Along with the convenience of vehicle owners, Traffic Police will have consolidated data of vehicles while company’s call centre will make alert calls to vehicle owners before ten days of expiry date of their vehicle insurance for timely insurance renewal. As per reports, the Yellow Smart Card is being used for one year which will automatically expire with the expiry of the vehicle registration date.
