Litterateurs, film makers, directors, actors and artists from Chhollywood have expressed grief over the demise of noted Urdu poet and lyricist Rahat Indori, who died due to the viral infection in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Eminent literature Dr Ajay Kumar Pathak paid tributes to noted Urdu poet Rahat Indori and said that the demise of Rahat Indori was a big loss for Hindi and Urdu poetry. “Rahat Indori was like a bridge between Hindi and Urdu poetry.
 
Indori was known for his courageous and loud poetry. He made spike on failure of governance and system through his poetry. Indori followed the writing of Kabir,” said Dr Pathak. Eminent litterateur Sanjeev Thakur said that the demise of Rahat Indori was an irreparable loss for Urdu poetry. “Rahat Indori was inspiration for youth and Urdu ghazal writers. He was one of the poets, who believed in secularism. So from the point of secularism, his death is a great loss for human beings.” Eminent Chhollywood film maker Satish Jain paid tributes to noted Urdu poet Indori.
 
Film maker Jain said that Rahat Indori was a renowned Urdu poet. “Rahat Indori’s Urdu poetry will always be remembered across the world,” he added. Secretary of Chhattisgarh Cine Television and Producers’ Association (CCTPA) and film maker Manoj Verma paying tributes to Urdu poet Rahat Indori said, “the sad demise of all time great lyricist and renowned Shayar Rahat Indori is a blow to the literary world. One of his recent creations ‘Bulati Hai Magar Jaane Ka Nai’ has crossed the limit of likes. His lyrics were used by Anu Malik, A R Rehman and Shanker Ahsaan Loy.
 
He wrote more than 20 hit songs for films. My deepest condolences for the departed soul.” Rahat Qureshi, later known as Rahat Indori, was born on January 1, 1950 in Indore to Rafatullah Qureshi, a cloth mill worker, and his wife Maqbool Un Nisa Begum. He did his schooling from Nutan School Indore from where he completed his Higher Secondary. Indori completed his graduation from Islamia Karimia College, Indore in 1973 and passed his MA in Urdu literature from Barkatullah University Bhopal in 1975. Rahat was awarded a PhD in Urdu literature from the Bhoj University of Madhya Pradesh in 1985 for his thesis titled Urdu Main Mushaira. Indori has been performing in Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan since last 45 years in India and abroad.
