Trade closed as transporters’ strike continues

ON second day of the ongoing strike called by the All India Motor Transport (AIMT) Congress, Madhya Pradesh Unit continued on Tuesday. Transport trade remained closed, no bookings were taken in over 1200 booking offices while over 8000 trucks, auto and mini trucks remained locked.
 
On Tuesday, a delegation of Truck Owners Association, Transporters Association Jabalpur and representatives of AIMTC MP went to Seoni district and submitted a memorandum to the RTO Seoni highlighting the issues on which transporters, truck operators and other allied services are on three-day strike. The demands of the striking transport operators are Zero tolerance on corruption on check posts, closures of RTO Check Posts at the State Borders.
 
To reduce VAT on petrol and diesel, road tax, two quarters goods tax should be exempted and to exempt fine on delayed realisation of taxes from transporters, COVID-19 insurance cover for drivers and to regulate the loan provided byt private Finance Companies at higher rates to the truck owners. Office-bearers including Paramveer Singh, Ajit Tiwari, Baljeet Singh Mangat, Micky Ahuja, Virag Pouranik and others association representatives were present.
