Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers of Nagpur are going to stage ‘Bhikh Mango Andolan’ on Friday against Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) and Maharashtra Government over the ‘inflated’ bills to consumer. The party will stage agitation in front of all MSEDCL sub stations in the city. MSEDCL said that the bills generated appear to be huge only because of higher consumption and the new rise in tariff applied to the bills, BJP’s demand is that the government should step in and provide immediate relief to the people by waiving off up to 300 units in power bills.

The company officials are claiming that the consumption increased largely because of people were at home in view of nation-wide lockdown, thus using power in excess. “Following the outrage, the MSEDCL has just devised a move of breaking the bills in instalments for people; However, in reality, they are not providing any relief to its consumers,” said Pravin Datke, BJP city chief through a press release. BJP staged agitations from the beginning against the inflated bills, but the Government is not in a mood to give any relief to the citizens amid this lockdown period, he added.

The Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut who is also the Energy Minister of the State is stubborn on his decision to no relief. Hence, BJP is now in a mood to do a big agitation all over the city on Friday. The agitation will take place in all zones of MSEDCL and it will start at 10 am.
