Dr Sushma Rane reportedly took her daughter to hospital to bring anaesthetic drug
Dr Sushma Dhiraj Rane had visited Avanti Hospital along with her daughter Vannya (5) on Scooty moped at 6 am on Tuesday and brought a vial of anaesthetic drug. She injected heavy doses of the anesthesia to her husband Dhiraj Digambar Rane (42), son Dhruv (11) and daughter Vannya early in the morning and later committed suicide, officials of Koradi police station said. Bodies of Dhiraj and the children were found lying on the bed in the master bedroom while Dr Sushma was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta at their house at Plot No. 115, Sant Jagnade Layout, Om Nagar, on Tuesday at 1 pm.
Investigation revealed that the suicide note was written by Dr Sushma herself and names of all four persons were also written in the end of the note. She reportedly wrote in the letter that her husband was looking so depressed these days and it was sorrowful to see him in this condition. “What will we do when you leave us,” Dr Sushma stated in the note. She further stated that she can not see her husband dying everyday. Hence, all the family members have decided to take this extreme step, stated a police official quoting the suicide note. A police official confirmed that the note was written by Dr Sushma herself. However, it can not be confirmed that all the family members (deceased) agreed for the extreme step, the official said. Meanwhile, the police also discussed the case with doctors of Avanti Hospital, Principal and teachers of G H Raisoni Institute of Information Technology.
The doctors and teachers reportedly told the police that they had no idea about Dhiraj Rane or his wife going through any mental trauma in their life. After performing post-mortem, the doctors have sent viscera of the deceased for forensic analysis. The bodies were handed-over to the family and last rites were performed.
The viscera report is expected conducted searches in the house and recovered two syringes from the bedroom where the bodies of the three persons were lying; a used syringe and a vial of anaesthesia found in the backyard of the house; empty liquor and beer bottles were also recovered from the house. Dhiraj used to consume liquor at home, the police investigation revealed. The police have called the family members and closed relatives and friends of the family for questioning on Thursday. “We are yet to find out exact reason behind and extreme step. The relatives and friends could provide us crucial leads,” the offcial said. The cops are also investigating technical analysis of phones of the deceased persons. The Call Detail Records (CDRs) is expected to come on Friday.
The police also questioned some neighbours who reportedly told the police that they had never seen the couple quarreling. On Monday night, the couple was seating in the car for more than an hour, a neighbour told the police. It may be informed that Dhiraj was an orphan as his parents died at an early age. He was adopted by his aunt Pramila Madhukar Shastrakar (65), who was also living with the couple. On Tuesday at 11 am, when Pramila knocked Dr Sushma’s door she replied that she was sleeping.
Later, at 1 pm when Pramila did not receive any response from Dr Sushma, she opened the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. Dr Sushma also left a paper with PIN number of her ATM card and wrote names of two persons asking to give Rs 25,000 and Rs 1,500 to them.
Flowers in the hands of children After injecting anaesthesia to the three, Dr Sushma kept flowers in the hands of her son and daughter. The police have mentioned in the Panchanama report.
