COVID-19 takes a mind-boggling spike in Chhattisgarh to set a new record of 916 cases, Raipur leading with highest of 330 cases. The situation is alarming in State with detection of highest case in a day. Total active cases are 6,594, total patients discharged are 554. Number of total tally reached 18,501 and with 4 deaths total death tally reached 168.
 
According to Bulletin issued by Health Department out of fresh 916 cases, highest case was detected in Raipur with 330 cases, second highest was Durg with 183 cases, Dantewada was in third position with 38 cases, 37 Sukma, 34 Surguja, 32 Raigarh, 30 Janjgir-Champa, 27 Koriya, 20 Narainpur, 20 Kanker, 19 Korba, 19 Jashpur, 17, Surajpur, 16 Rajnandgaon, 15 Bilaspur, 14 Kondagaon, 9 Balodabazaar, 8 Gariaband, 8 Mungeli, 8 Bijapur, 6 Mahasamund, 6 Bastar, 5 Kabirdham, 4 Bemetara, 4 Balrampur and 1 Balod. All the patients have been admitted in nearest Dedicated COVID Hospital and Medical College Hospitals for treatment.
 
Out of four deaths, three cases were from Raipur and one from Korba. Total number of discharged patient on the day was 554 out of which 13 were of Durg, 60 Rajnandgaon, 1 Balod, 27 Bemetara, 39 Kabirdham, 278 Raipur, 4 Balodabazaar, 4 Mahasamund,4 Gariaband, 33 Bilaspur, 1 Raigarh, 4 Korba, 8 Janjgir-Champa, 1 Mungeli, 5 Surguja, 18 Jashpur, 6 Bastar, 5 Kondagaon, 1 Dantewada, 8 Sukma and 34 Narainpur. Total Active cases are 6594 out of which 978 are in Durg, 257 Rajnandgaon, 124 Balod, 24 Bemetara, 31 Kabirdham, 2715 Raipur, 26 Dhamtari, 122 Balodabazaar, 88 Mahasamund, 52 Gariaband, 323 Bilaspur, 462 Raigarh, 113 Korba, 84 Janjgir-Champa, 17 Mungeli, 118 Surguja, 87 Koriya, 49 Surajpur, 12 Balrampur, 71 Jashpur, 194 Bastar, 116 Kondagaon, 71 Dantewada, 191 Sukma, 140 Kanker, 48 Narainpur, 60 Bijapur and 21 of other state.
 
Earlier on August 18 the state had reported the second single day spike with 808 cases, third highest spike case was on August 19 with 752 cases, fourth highest case was reported on August 16 with 576 cases, fifth highest was on August 14 with 529 cases and sixth highest case was on August 12 with 492 cases.
