On Friday, sluice gates of Bhadbhada dam of Upper Lake were opened following rise in water level. BMC water works official said that one of the sluice gates was opened at around 6:30 am.
Due to very heavy rainfall in catchment areas sluice gates were opened after the Upper Lake water body neared its full capacity. Preparations were already taken by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) as incessant rains continued in nearby areas and prior information to the low-lying areas have also been given.
Sehore received good rainfall in last 24 hours and the Upper Lake water level reached its full tank level of 1666.80ft. On regular basis BMC officials are monitoring the Upper Lake water level and also ensuring proper outlet of rainy water from different areas. Water-logging in low lying areas is still an issue and inspite of preparations of storm management plant by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials major changes was not witnessed. Barricades have been placed near water body and this time stringent measures have been taken due to COVID-19 scare to not to allow any visitors influx near the local spot which becomes tourist attraction during this time of the year usually.
