India’s first Smart Restroom Monitoring System (SRMS) with social distancing for public toilets was installed at Bhopal Smart City’s Office on Saturday. Collector Avinash Lavania, Smart City CEO Aditya Singh and Additional Municipal Commissioner Shashwant Meena inaugurated and appreciated the system. The system installed at Smart City Office was developed by a Bhopal based start-up company ‘Beyondsmart Technologies Pvt Ltd’.

It consists of smart supervising equipment for the public washrooms to ensure cleanliness, hygiene and social distancing amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The system indicates the occupancy in the public toilets at the entrance, which helps in maintaining social distancing in the times of COVID-19. Member of the team, which made it possible, Zeeshan Khan told ‘The Hitavda’ that SRMS is a microcontroller based accurate and highly advanced quick responding system that not only monitors the hygiene parameters but also regulates the cleanliness maintenance operations.

He added that it will play an important role in monitoring the usage of public toilets and maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene. It will also helps in increasing the ranking of the city in Swacchta Survekshan under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, said Khan.
