Kolar, Kaliyasot, Bhadbhada dams’ gates opened due to incessant rains

Flood gates of Kolar, Kaliyasot, Bhadbhada dams opened as persistent rainfall continued in city. All sluice gates of Bhadbhada dam has been opened along with eight sluice gates of Kolar dam, and nine sluice gates of Kaliyasot. This decision was taken early morning due to heavy showers on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
 
People were alerted by sirens at around 6 in the morning. As rains were consistent Bhopal Corporation (BMC) officials opened gates at around 7 am as soon as the full tank level (FTL) of Upper Lake reached its capacity of 1666.80 ft. Preparation were started to open the gates as soon as water level in Upper Lake crossed FTL mark. A K Pawar, Engineer (water works) from BMC, said that the gates were opened early morning since rains continued.
 
Subsequent to which heavy to very heavy rainfall at Sehore district resulted in rise in water level in the Kolans river later. The gates of Kaliyasot dam reached its FRL (full reservoir level) of 505.67m. The senior officials of BMC and MPWRD are in constant touch.
