Even as the relief work is going on in East Vidarbha, Nagpur district remains the most affected due to the flood after heavy rains lashed Chhindwara and Nagpur districts. Though the rains have stopped, flood situation still persists and district administrations are busy in rescue work. Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts faced rain’s fury that submerged everything under water. More than 90,858 people from 14 talukas of five districts are worst-affected and more than 47,971 persons have been evacuated to safer locations.
 
About 9,982 people were shifted to 138 shelter camps in the division. Two columns of Indian Army troops from Guards Regimental Centre (GRC) Kamptee, Engineers Task Force from Pune and Medical Team from Military Hospital Kamptee are involved in rescue and relief operations. In all 80 troops, along with three (Contd from page 1) Army boats, are deployed in village Dhamni, Pavni, Ambora and Gongpimpri in Kuhi Taluka. A total number of 90 stranded persons were evacuated by rescue troops. Army Medical Team is also providing necessary medical aid to the affected people in the area. Army Columns are now relocating to village in Brahmapuri area of Chandrapur district. Similarly, four teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also from Pune are rescuing people from different villages of Nagpur district. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) teams are also deputed for rescue work in Mouda taluka while local rescue teams are also busy in rescue work in different villages.
 
In Nagpur district, total 28,104 people from 61 villages of Mouda, Parseoni, Kuhi, Saoner and Kamptee talukas were shifted to shelter camps so far. The water level in Kanhan river is now reduced to 273 metres on Monday which was 284 metres on Sunday. Orange City Water (OCW), that supplies drinking water to Nagpur, came in action and deployed divers to clean the jackwell bottom strainers to re-establish the routine water supply which got affected due to increased water level in the river. In Bhandara district, 67 villages of Pavani, Lakhandur, Bhandara town, Mohadi, Tumsar and Kalhni talukas were affected. Total 55,000 people were affected in Bhandara district due to floods. The rescue work is underway at large scale. Total 62 shelter camps are established where total 1,369 people got shelter. The central and state rescue teams evacuated 14,813 people at safer places so far.
 
In Chandrapur district, Bramhapuri taluka is most affected. Total 4,859 people from 21 villages were affected due to floods. Among them 3,159 people have already been shifted to four shelter camps by the administration. Total 10 villages of Wadsa, Armori and Gadchiroli of Gadchiroli district experienced the loss due to flood. About 2,098 people were evacuated to safer places by the administration so far. Total 1,375 people were shifted to 10 shelter camps in Chandrapur district.
 
NMC evacuates 58 Mouda residents to safer places The Fire and Emergency Services Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) joined hands with other rescuing teams to rescue citizens from Mouda taluka. On Sunday, the team of NMC evacuated 58 people who were stranded in flood. The Mouda administration informed NMC about the crisis on Sunday. The firemen from Sakkardara and Lakadganj fire stations rushed to the spots and evacuated people from the flood situation and shifted them to safer places. The team evacuated people from Valna and Kot villages of Mouda taluka. The evacuation took place under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchake.
 
Admin starts maintenance of Nayakund bridge of Parseoni taluka

The last spell of rains in Nagpur district brought flood that damaged crops in all over Parseoni taluka. Large area of the taluka is under water for last two days. The rescue operation is underway and administration is taking all measures to provide help to affected-people. The administration started the maintenance of the Nayakund bridge in Parseoni taluka that damaged on Saturday night due to flood. The bridge connects many villages to the highway and due to damage the traffic on the road was restricted for the last 48 hours. Singardeep villages were affected the most and the connectivity of the village with other villages was cut off due to high water-level. The villagers were shifted by local rescuers to nearby schools and community halls where they were provided food and drinking water by the administration.
 
On Monday morning, Tehsildar Varun Kumar Sahare chaired an emergency meeting with other officials of Parseoni Taluka administration and instructed officials to take quick steps to provide shelter, food and water to affected-people in affected villages. In Parseoni taluka about 1,223 families were affected 
 
Tumane visits flood-affected Mouda, Parseoni Krupal Tumane, MP of Ramtek, Lok Sabha constituency visited various villages of Mouda on Monday to check the flood situation. He directed officials to provide assistance and compensation immediately to flood-affected people. Mouda and Parseoni talukas have been hit the hardest by the floods that hit all the tributaries including Kanhan and Pench rivers in the district. Tumane was accompanied by Mouda tehsildar Prashant Sangole, Parseoni tehsildar Varun Kumar Sahare, Devendra Godbole, Nanda Lohbare, Wardharaj Pillay, Shubham Navale, Shankar Jhalke, Nana Wankhede, Sanjay Pise, Ghanshyam Dhoble, Nitin Wange, Sahadev Buchke, Nitin Wange, Vandana Bhole and others were present.
