With 2,343 news coronavirus positive cases in one single day on Sunday, Nagpur district crossed 50,000 mark. The cumulative number reached 52,141. Of the total 2,343 positive cases, the city witnessed 2,042 new cases, while 296 came positive in Nagpur rural. Of the cumulative number, 41,587 are from Nagpur urban while 10,554 are from rural. With 33 deaths in Nagpur city, and 7 from rural areas, the total deaths registered in the district are 40 taking the cumulative deaths to 1,510.
The samples examined on Sunday are a bit less as compared to the ones done on Saturday. Number of samples examined on Saturday were 9,026, while on Sunday they were 8,459. The total active cases at present are 11,664 with 5,884 people despite testing positive have put themselves under home isolation because of they being asymptomatic.
The samples came positive were examined at Virology Laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (350), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (259), Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (105), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (78), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (76), private laboratories and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (638), Antigen (837).
Close to 40,000 patients recover Nagpur district witnessed close to 40,000 becoming coronavirus-infection free. On Sunday in one single day 1,769 became corona-free. With this the cumulative recovery reached 39,149. The recovery rate is constantly showing improvement. On Sunday it improved further to 74.61%.
Dr Nitin Raut’s concern for testing Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut expressed concern over lack of genuineness in testing the samples for Covid 19. His office is receiving several complaints about testing. People got fet up of problems being faced by them of testing. There are several examples where persons test positive at one laboratory and negative at another on the same day. According to the information sought by Dr Raut’s office, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) that receives daily information about the tests from all over the country is not getting proper data from some places including Nagpur. The Minister has directed officials to take stock of it.
