They have prayed to God to give space to the departed soul at his feet and give his family the strength to bear this grief. Meanwhile, in another eye opener COVID case a police cop succumbed within five days following normal uneasiness and occasional coughing with negligible pain in chest for first three days in Bhilai. After normal medication on the third day the cop opted for COVID test and he was tested negative. Since the symptoms continue to persist he then reached District Hospital, Durg for RTPCR test in which he was tested positive but the report came after two days of his death.

After the test, on fifth day during morning hours his condition fast deteriorated and he was admitted to a COVID hospital in Bhilai wherein he succumbed after about six hours. The doctors said that he was tested positive for the pandemic in rapid antigen test before two hours from the demise. The in-charge doctors opined that it could not be termed as an exceptional case as in considerable cases death occurred in short time or less than that following the condition fast deteriorating and leading to breathlessness. Hence, it is always better to comply with all norms and taking healthy diet to enhance once immunity instead of getting panic or indulging in carelessness.

T Bhuarya, Assistant Engineer at CREDA and the cop P Bhuarya’s son who died of COVID-19, told ‘The Hitavada’ that his father was on leave since September 12 as he was feeling restlessness and occasional coughing with negligible pain in chest. It continued for two days and they fetched medicines for him from medical stores, but it persisted even on third day and they got COVID test done at Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Hospital, Supela, Bhilai wherein he was tested negative. As normal coughing with negligible pain in chest area and uneasiness persisted they approached District Hospital, Durg for RTPCR and reached back home.

At about 10:30 am on the fifth day P Bhuarya suffered breathlessness and he was shifted to a COVID hospital in Supela, Bhilai wherein the doctor was referring the case to another COVID hospital for better treatment but in the meantime the patient went unconscious and he was hospitalised for treatment at the same hospital. In the noon doctors told the family members that in rapid antigen test the patient was found to be positive while his condition is fast deteriorating and after about couple of hours they were told that the patient is no more. He also informed that in RTPCR test his father was tested positive for the pandemic but it is unfortunate that the report came after two days of death. He also added that there was no history of taste or smell loss.

Dr Gambhir Singh Thakur, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Durg informed that it is not the lone case or contracting high strain virus as sometime it becomes the matter of a day as in such cases coronavirus’s fast multiplication is noted and while attacking respiratory system it paralyses lung muscles, leading to death. In some cases the patients are being pronounced as brought dead on arrival at hospital as it depends upon once immunity regardless of age. Hence, it is always better to follow strictly all precautionary measures and to take healthy diet for enhancing immunity. When queried about delay in RTPCR test result, CMO, Dr Thakur clarified that the pandemic at its peak and sometimes test report gets delayed with piling up of pending reports. It normally takes three days unlike the sudden death case.
